Your agents don’t need breaks. You do.

Meowdoro is a focus timer for people who work with AI agents. During focus, the notch shows which Claude Code and Codex sessions are working, done or waiting for your answer. During a break, they stay out of sight.

One round with Meowdoro

A two-minute film of one pomodoro round on a drawn Mac. The person starts a 25-minute focus, gets a request from a colleague in a messenger, hands it to Claude in Claude Desktop and closes its window. When Claude finishes, one quiet line slides out of the island; one click opens that session. An agent in a virtual machine finishes too, and the island marks it read once the person has looked. When the focus ends, the island offers a break; during it the agents keep working and nothing reaches the person. After five minutes, one line says what happened. Later, Statistics shows four rounds and the breaks taken.

    One round, by the clock.

Pomodoro is a simple way to work: a short stretch of focus, then a real break, and again. Meowdoro keeps that clock beside the notch. By default a round is 25 minutes of focus and 5 of rest, with a 15-minute break after every fourth. You can change all of it.

    1. You start a focus.

The cat sits down at its laptop next to the notch, and the time counts down. Click Focus to name what you’re working on.

    2. Claude needs you.

A number appears beside the cat, and one line slides out without a sound: which session, and what it wants. Click the island to see every session.

    3. Time for a break.

The island slides out with the next cat and a purr. If a session’s context is filling up, the card suggests /compact: the agent can tidy up while you rest.

    4. A break without agents.

The number, the list and the pop-ups are gone until your next focus. Codex can finish and Claude can ask a question: it all waits for you.

    5. Break’s over.

The card counts what happened while you rested. Press Focus, and the agents are back in view for the next round.

    Stop watching the terminal.

Every Claude Code and Codex session shows up in the island, grouped by agent: working, finished, failed or waiting for your answer. Click a row to jump to that session.

    • A ring per session shows how full its context is. Past half, the break card suggests /compact.
    • Codex’s 5-hour and weekly limits, and the time they’d run out at the pace you’re going.
    • Agents on other machines: a VM, a Linux server or another Mac, through a relay that only ever sees ciphertext.
    • Updates on hold for a focus that can’t be interrupted. Peek when you choose.

    Breaks are for you.

When a break starts, the number, the list and the pop-ups go away. The time runs in blue and nothing asks for you. Start the next focus and one line catches you up.

Back at focus: While you rested: 1 waiting · 1 finished

Breaks without agentsStatistics counts the breaks you took to the end.
Agents waited for youHow long sessions waited while you rested or kept their updates on hold.
Pauses when you step awayIf you like, a focus pauses after 5 minutes away from the keyboard or during a call, and offers Start when you’re back.

    It only listens.

Meowdoro sits next to tools you already trust with your code, so it’s built to touch as little as it can.

    Your agent installs it

Connect shows you the command, then runs the agent’s own: claude plugin install or codex plugin add. Meowdoro never edits your agents’ settings: the plugin is installed, updated and removed only with their own commands. Disconnect removes it the same way.

    It never approves anything

No hook answers an agent or waits for a decision. When a session wants to use a tool, the island tells you, and you answer in the agent.

    Hooks that cost nothing

Each hook hands its event to the app over a local socket, prints nothing and exits at once. Claude Code counts them as 0 tokens of context.

    Token counts, not your conversation

The context ring comes from the token counters at the end of a session’s transcript. Meowdoro doesn’t read or keep what you and the agent said, leaves Claude Code’s status line alone and stays out of your Keychain.

Your data stays on your Mac

No account, and no analytics in the app. Settings, statistics and the session list live on your Mac. Agents on other machines send only encrypted status.

    Light on your Mac

A native Swift app. In our measurements a running focus uses about 0.02% of CPU and under 100 MB of memory, and an hour under load didn’t grow it.

    Questions

Which agents does Meowdoro work with?

Claude Code, in the terminal or in Claude Desktop, and Codex, in the terminal or in ChatGPT. Settings → Agents on this Mac finds them and connects each one with a click. Other agents don’t show up for now.

Do I need to know the terminal?

No. Settings → Agents on this Mac finds Claude Code and Codex, and Connect sets each one up with a click; it shows the command it runs, if you want to see it. Sessions in Claude Desktop and ChatGPT show up in the island just like the ones in a terminal.

Can I use it only as a focus timer?

Yes. Agents are optional: without them Meowdoro is a pomodoro timer with a cat beside the notch, statistics and a journal of your day.

Do I need a MacBook with a notch?

No. On a Mac without a notch, or on an external display, Meowdoro is a small bar in the middle of the top edge, as tall as the menu bar. You choose which screen it lives on.

Does it change my Claude Code or Codex settings?

No. Meowdoro never edits your agents’ settings. Connect runs the agent’s own plugin command after showing it to you, and the agent records the plugin itself; Disconnect removes it with the agent’s commands too. You can also run them yourself from Terminal.

Can it approve permissions for me?

No, on purpose. Meowdoro only listens: it shows that a session wants to use a tool or asked you a question, and you answer in the agent.

    What leaves my Mac?

Your settings, statistics and sessions stay on it. Once a day Meowdoro checks GitHub for a newer version. If you turn on agents on other machines, they send status to your Mac through the relay at relay.meowdoro.com, encrypted with AES-256-GCM: the relay can’t read it, and prompts, files and replies never leave those machines. Details are in the privacy policy.

    How do updates work?

Once a day Meowdoro looks for a newer version. When there is one, the island says so, and Install shows what’s new, installs it and restarts. It installs only updates signed with Meowdoro’s own key.

Let the agents work. Take your break.
